Joe DiOrio was recently interviewed as part of an April Rhode Island Lawyers Weekly article entitled: Annuity not exempt from bankruptcy under state law in which “US Bankruptcy Court Judge Diane Finkle ruled against a debtor’s claim that an annuity should be excluded from his bankruptcy estate under certain state exemptions.”
The case addressed the question of whether a certain annuity was exempt from the bankruptcy estate under state law.
Joe DiOrio commented “I have been a trustee for several years and haven’t seen much on these statutes, but because the judge engaged in a thorough analysis we now have something in front of us that we can follow.”
